March 15-16 saw SOAS play host to Martin Sievers (Trier) – the developer behind the Online Transcription Editor (OTE) program.
The OTE has been successfully used for transcribing New Testament manuscripts by researchers at the Institute for New Testament Textual Research (Münster) and the Institute for Textual Scholarship and Electronic Editing (Birmingham).
The task of transcribing Avestan language manuscripts however, brings with it a unique set of challenges and the fruitful meeting of SOAS-based MUYA project collaborators with Martin Sievers afforded an opportunity to discuss further customisation of the OTE.
We thank Martin Sievers for accepting our invitation to London and look forward to working with the newly implemented features in the OTE.
